Competition 2006

On behalf of the Board of the International Piano Competition Foundation I cordially welcome you to the 2006 International Piano Competition.

The Competition has been held now for 6 years and holds a key position in the City of Enschede’s musical life alongside the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra (Orkest van het Oosten), the Nationale Reisopera, the ArtEZ Conservatory Enschede and represents a major contribution to the cultural life of our City.

The Competition offers those taking part the opportunity to play for an audience together with others also seeking to become professional performers. The Competition is only possible by the support generously given by Government grant, private donations and our many sponsors, to whom we are deeply indebted.

Our thanks are also due to the many host families who provide hospitality for our Competitors and their Companions. We also thank the Members of the International Judging Committee who have the difficult task of selecting the Winners. The Foundation is also very grateful for the help, advice and support freely given by the Muziekcentrum, PodiumTwente, the ArtEZ Conservatory Enschede and of course the Netherlands Symphony Orchestra.

Finally, the Board of the Foundation wish all Competitors every success in their future careers and sincerely hope that participation in the Competition will prove a major step to their becoming professional musicians of World Class quality.
