Mi Kyung Kim is presently focused as the most prospective new generation performer equipped with characteristic musical expression. She began her first piano lesson at the age of five. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Seoul National University, Master of Music from The Julliard School of Music, Professional Studies from The Mannes College of Music, and Doctor of Arts from New York University. She made her debut at New York by winning The Grand Prize in Artists International Competition.

She was appointed as the best new generation performer by the Journal of Music in 1992. She was highly praised as a rising star worth while to be remembered by the Moscow News after her performing with Moscow State Broadcasting Orchestra in 1993.

Her recordings of piano solo and piano concerto works by Young Jo Lee(ASV), W.A. Mozart(Nimbus), Schumann (Sungeum), C. Saint-Saens has been released on CD. Mi-Kyung Kim, one of Korea's top pianists, emphasizes with this lovely evocative music and brings it vividly to life with all the sensitivity and delicacy it demands. Clearly a young lady to watch (Ian Lace, Fanfare, September 2000). Mi-Kyung Kim's performances are sensitive and beautifully crafted throughout, and are complemented by a very natural sound recording.(Michael Stewart, Gramophone, January 2001).

Currently, she is professor of the International Piano Academy Lake Como in Italy and she is invited regularly to important international piano competitions.
